Team NUSA visit the First Story Writers Festival at the University of Oxford
The First Story NUSA team were treated to a unique day visit to Lady Margaret Hall at the University of Oxford on Thursday 25th September 2014, to take part in the First Story Young People's Literary Festival. Following a tedious dual with the M40, studnets were welcomed by a plethora of writers, creatives and authors. The first workshop saw our students consider 'the senses' within creative writing, with Anthony Cropper, writing short, reflective pieces on key life moments. In the afternoon, following a chance to browse through the £1 Book Sale, our writers were treated to a talk by guest speaker, Mark Haddon, author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, where he spoke about his writing values and his own experiences during a fascinating Q&A session. Our final session involved a number of book readings and performances from different types of writers, including MC Angel and James Dawson.
