TRANSITION
TRANSITION PROGRAMME FOR SEPTEMBER 2012 ENTRY
Information Evenings for parents and pupils:
Wednesday 28th September 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Academy.
Transition programme:
Our Transition programme this year has a South Africa theme.
Days 1 and 2 of the programme will involve a number of ‘getting to know the academy’ (and each other) activities, as well as developing themes for use on day 3.
On each of the three transition days, the children are to arrive at NUSA at 8.50 a.m. The children do not attend their primary school on the transition days. School uniform must be worn. Your child will be provided with a free school meal or if your child prefers to bring a packed lunch they may do so. No child is allowed off the academy premises at lunch time. The children will depart from the academy at 3.20 p.m.
These days are:
Wednesday 22nd and Wednesday 29th June (for pupils coming to us from Brocklewood / Melbury / Portland Primary Schools)
Thursday 23rd and Thursday 30th June (now changed to Friday 1st July) (for pupils coming to us from Seagrave / Firbeck / other primary schools)
The programme for third ("Cross-City Transfer") day, Wednesday 6th July, will be held at the University of Nottingham. This day will include work on South African music and dance, poetry and art led by specialists in each area. The day will finish with a celebration where pupils will share their work.
Through their long standing teaching partnership project with the Mamelodi Trust, our sponsors at the University of Nottingham have provided us with some wonderful contacts and have arranged for a partner South African teacher to visit us and participate in the programme. Details on South African teaching partnership project can be found here.
