Section 1: Devising drama

30% of total mark (practical work and written, filmed and marked by teacher)

You will research and explore a stimulus set by the exam board, work collaboratively in a group and create their own devised drama (improvised without a script). You also need to complete a portfolio of evidence during the process, give a final performance of your drama, and write an evaluation of your own work.

Section 2: Presenting and performing texts

30% of total mark (practical and written, visiting examiner)

You will develop and apply theatrical skills in acting or design by presenting a showcase of two extracts from a performance text. You will choose two options from either a monologue, duologue or a group piece.

You also need to complete a portfolio of evidence during the devising process, give a final performance of your drama, and write an evaluation of your own work.

Section 3: Drama: Performance and response

40% (written exam)

You will explore practically a whole performance text, and demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of how drama is developed and performed in the written exam questions. You will also analyse and evaluate a live theatre performance that you have been to see.
