Year 11 Students cook up a storm at Jubilee Campus

Year 11 Hospitality students recently teamed up with Nottingham City Homes and student ambassadors from the University of Nottingham, to create a culinary banquet for thirty VIP guests at Jubilee Campus. The event on Saturday 22nd March at Cafe Aspire, saw the student group, along with support from NUSA staff, play host to university representatives, local councillors and personal family guests.

The aim of the project was to learn and develop PR skills, in addition to the other aims around teamwork, communication and improving their cooking skills. Six NUSA students along with five University students met over a series of three weeks in the NUSA Training kitchens to develop and test a menu, considering costings, cooking methods and presentation skills.

Special thanks must go to Helen King, NUSA Hospitality Teacher and Kirsty McKeown and Michaela Cockayne of Nottingham City Homes for their input and continued support throughout the project.
