Attendance Campaign at NUSA

NUSA pupils and staff joined the city wide drive to increase attendance levels at schools within Nottingham during June. Free, hard hitting publicity material emphasised the link between attendance and achievement within schools. NUSA pupils discussed the issue during mentor periods and during year group assemblies. Following these sessions, pupils expressed a much more detailed understanding of the impact their attendance has on their experience and achievement within school.

NUSA also took the opportunity during the awareness campaign to celebrate the ‘100% Club’ i.e., those pupils with 100% attendance records. These pupils were briefed and congratulated on their achievements by a member of the Nottingham City Council task force (pictured below). Furthermore, pupils were challenged to become attendance ambassadors, with the remit of spreading the word to other pupils regarding the importance of a good attendance record.

Finally, the ‘100% Club’ teamed up with local primary schools to celebrate their successes at the Colwick Adventure Park. The group took part in a variety of outdoor activities, which included climbing (pictured below), shelter building and raft building. The day was an overwhelming success and richly deserved.

NUSA’s attendance team of Ms Aldridge and Ms Fletcher would like to thank all those who played a part in supporting the campaign.
